My Everyday Life: Week 48

Here’s what this past week looked like:

Giving thanks! Literally.

I did some of my dinner prep in advance.

Steamy sweet potato mash!

The geometry of peeled potatoes.

I used Mark Bittman’s Braised Turkey recipe and it was AMAZING.

The best part is that Joy came to my Thanksgiving this year!!!

Turkey carving.

Here’s my table!

Here it is from the front.

I used some of my turkey feathers in the mix.

And the THANKS went on each plate.

My mom brought her Artichoke Squares.

My plate 🙂

Joy made her dad’s Sweet Potato Pie. AMAZING. I had it for first breakfast.

It was so warm one day this week that I wore a tank top.

On a walk with my friend Megan.

I brought a turkey home.

A salad I made for a picnic.

I hope that I can put this photo in a slideshow at their wedding one day.

Three Musketeers in wine country.

Crab lunch with my dad.

On the way home.

We stopped at a family party.

Joy making pie in my kitchen.

Bread bracelet. Totally normal.

Cooper got a haircut this week!

Staring at the bay water.

Puffy.

Do you see the face?

Pinot’s favorite lounging spot.

Fried egg over spanish rice.

Way to put your business on the street.

Eggs, tortilla, salsa, to do list.

Getting the mail with flashlights, boots & a Captain America shield.

Cooper drew this on my car.

Second breakfast with my Maj & Amy.

These two glow from the inside out!

S &&& RRRR

Maj being maj.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!! XOX

Oh boy! What a wonderful T-Day you had. I

  • Christine @ BookishlyB

Apronless turkey carving? You’re talented! I can barely boil water without making a mess…

  • Clem

Very pretty pictures! I look your table settings and table decor. I feel like Thanksgiving options are so limited!

  • Heidi - Apples Under My Bed

Your table looks just gorgeous, Tracy! Major inspiration for making my Christmas table extra special. Better start collecting feathers…but wait, we’re having pork. That could get awkward and hairy.

Looks like you had an amazing week. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving where I’m from so I’m living vicariously through everyone’s photos & having food envy from everyone’s feasts!

  • Jessica (bakecetera)

so many things to be thankful for :D, and THAT PIE! it is just perfect.

  • Anna

Great photos, the food looks delicious!

  • Jessica @ Living La Vida Holoka

You set a beautiful Thanksgiving table! Great photos.

  • Holly

That photo of you and Joy has such a retro vibe. I think it’s your dress – another Anthro find?

  • christina

Looks great! Can you please tell me where you bought the silver pumpkin decor? Thanks!

    • Tracy

The pumpkins were a gift from my old neighbor. I think she might have bought a few at Michaels or Smith & Hawken. Sorry I can’t be anymore help.

Hi Tracy – Your thanksgiving table was so gorgeous! I’m such a Thanksgiving junkie we always celebrate it twice – Canadian first in October and then in November we usually invite any orphan American ex-pat friends over for another go. I am curious about the Bittman braised turkey – will you be blogging about it? Looked it up on the times site and am intrigued – would love to try it for Christmas but afraid my uber resistant to change inlaws will protest (I spatchcocked a turkey last year and they are still talking about it – it was scandalous!) I always trust your recommendations and insights. Thanks so much!

    • Tracy

I’m not blogging about it- because I made it for Thanksgiving and I didn’t have time to shoot it. I highly recommend it. My husband and a few of my guests said that it was the best turkey they’ve ever had and I agree!

      • Shana

You mean you couldn’t host that lovely party – make all that food AND take your gorgeous step-by-step photos for a blog post too?! 😉

Seriously though I’ve been watching the Mark Bittman video and I’m going to do it for Christmas. If I get any complaints about changing up the traditions then I’m telling people they are welcome to do the hosting/cooking.

  • Sara

    Your Thanksgiving table is fantastic!

  • Bev

What a beautiful tablescape you created! I love the photo of the boats at the bay. Very calm waters!

  • Amy

Loved my time with you & Joy. Love you both SO DANG MUCH.

  • Rose

You have such an eye for beauty!

  • Jayne

That diaper bum. My heart! Also, I love your relationship with Joy. So different but yet so knitted. So much to be thankful for! <3

  • Amy Ulrich

The photo of the kids at the wall is hilarious because when I first looked at it I thought it looked like a People of Walmart pic. I thought, that lady should not wearing those leggings. Its all in the perspective I guess. As always, a beautiful week in pictures!

  • christina

I just made Mark Bittman’s braised turkey tonight using only the dark meat — it was crazy good. I wouldn’t have learned about this recipe if I didn’t read your fab blog!

  • Sandra

Hey Tracy! I’m trying the Mark Bittman braised Turkey this year and I see that you used the legs even though it calls for 4 thighs and the breast. I’m just having my 14lb turkey broken down by the butcher and using the all the parts – legs, thighs, breast. I’m guessing from the photo you did the same?
